Ozona is a very unique, hidden, not well known or understood, tiny town within the Tampa Bay area, filled with special places. You won't find a chain reastaurant here, ever! Only in Ozona... We decided to try Ozona Pig and we did enjoy a well-prepared BBQ meal complete with ribs, chicken, pork, and brisket plus deviled eggs, texas toast, beans, cole slaw, and mac & cheese. Sounds like enough food? You would be correct! The BBQ was very tender and moist and not overcooked or dry in the slightest. While the ribs and chicken had some seasoning, the overall flavor was not very smoky. The sauces were a bit underwhelming also. Hot was slightly warm but they had some bottled pepper sauce to spice things up a bit. The clientele were mostly wearing aged ball caps and ordering miller light while enjoying the 100% country music. Honestly, this isn't my scene but perhaps it is yours?

Love the place. GRRRREAT burgers! Clean & friendly.. Smells like a real BBQ pork store. Coming back for sure.

I am not a big fan of BBQ, but I will say that I enjoy eating at Ozona Pig. My favorite things are the fried corn on the cob and tamales (quite different than tamales I have eaten in Costa Rica & Mexico-more like a BBQ eggroll w chili on top-but yummy nonetheless). Atmosphere is nice, great service.

As an avid bbq eater who has worked at 3 renowned bbq restaurants in the state of Florida, Ozona takes the cake. The day we went, my dad and I shared the half order(which was plenty for 2 people) of pulled pork nachos. We added the Ozona hot sauce to the nachos and it was delicious. After the nachos, I had a large pulled pork sandwich with a side of baked beans - the pulled pork was very fresh and the baked beans were the best I've ever had. My dad had the regular size brisket sandwich with a side of hand cut fries - he said it was delicious as well! We ended our meal with Oreo key lime pie - which I'm currently eating. Have to say, the service and food were outstanding and whenever I'm in the palm harbor area I will gladly eat here again.

ordered the ribs for lunch with a water. ribs were heavily smoked which isnt a bad thing. The ends were very firm while the meat in between was soft. i like my ribs to fall off the bone these didnt. their prices are pretty high for what you get. Fries are an upcharge on a $16 plate. definately not worth its price.

No wonder this place gets great reviews. .food is fabulous. .the thing I like the best is that the barbecue doesn't have such a strong smoke flavor..meat is moist and falls off the bone whether it's chicken or ribs..WE'LL BE BACK

My husband is the delivery driver for Ozona Pig and he wanted me to try it. It's an hour and a half drive from our house, but worth the drive! I had the BBQ sandwich and fries and ordered an extra side of Mac n cheese. The fries were crispy and very hot! Freshly made. The mac n cheese was my absolute favorite! Very cheesy and delicious. My husband got the brisket plate with green beans and Mac n cheese. I loved the chunks of ham in the green beans! It's a very small, country joint with a lot of character. Great place!

Love stopping in Ozona Pig for lunch. Brisket sandwich is great and the regular serving is more than enough. If you are really hungry they offer a jumbo size. My other favorite is the "sweet and sassy" wings. Add on delicious French fries or creamy Mac and cheese and you will be set.

Awesome bbq joint in ozona! Everything we had was excellent from the chicken to the beef brisket. Definitely get the tomale app!

Ozona Pig is like a small business version of Sonnys. I got the Boss Hog special to split with the hubby, it came with 4 ribs, 1/2 a chicken, pulled pork and brisket for $26. The meat wasn't spectauclar, though I really enjoyed the sweet sauce. I'm not a huge fan of smokey bbq (blasphemy, I know) so extra points for having a sweet sauce. The mac and cheese side was cold and tasted like instant mac, but the hubby really liked the beans. We also split the ice cream brownie for dessert, nothing special. I'd come here again for dinner because we live close by, and it was decently good, but I wouldn't drive out of the way for it.

Meh. I cannot say that being served a brisket sandwich that was warm on one side and cold on the other did anything to improve my disdain for unevenly temperatured meals in this case. I do not know how my food was prepared, but I usually encounter issues like this when a microwave has been involved somewhere along the line. After having heard great reviews about this place I was excited but, that excitement quickly turned into disappointment. I've been to several BBQ places around this state, and I cannot think of a single reason why I would want to ever return to this one. The best part of the whole trip was the random conversation I had in the parking lot with some old couple who just started talking to me out of nowhere about the weather.

They're all correct -- the pulled pork is fantastic! I love that deviled eggs come with almost every option. All three sauces are wonderful. The live music is a great touch! Only downside is that if you sit near the door, you're going to get hit with cigarette smoke from outdoor smokers.

  • Ryan T.

Our favorite BBQ place ever. We would eat here once a week if we could! The BBQ cocktail is a must have and all the sides are delicious. If you're a corn on the cob lover you will absolutely love theirs, it's amazing.

  • Kelcey O.

This place is delish! We decided to try it one day and can't wait to go back. The brisk it was amazing and the macaroni and cheese was to die for! The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is they could use a bigger selection of draft beers!

  • Anthony C.

Outstanding little barbeque place. Been here several times and never have been disappointed, tried the ribs, the pulled port and chicken all with delicious results. Love the way the ribs just fall off the bone amd the pulled pork simply melts in your mouth. Hard to find a parking spot in their lot, but that would be the only negative to talk about. Service is always prompt and pleasant. Great treat for the whole family. Expecting to go back soon, one of my favorite places for barbeque.

  • Haley H.

To be clear, I'm not a big fan of barbecue itself or most barbecue restaurants, but this place might make me a bit of a barbecue fan yet. The prices are high, but the food is tasty. I had the ribs - the meat was tender, not exactly fall-off-the-bone but close, and it was a large half-rack. A family member ordered the pulled pork nachos, which came as a huge portion with plenty of the toppings. But the clincher here is THE WINGS. I swear on my life, at the Ozona Pig, I ate the best chicken wings I have ever had (this coming from a chicken wing enthusiast). Smoked, crispy on the outside but juicy inside, and much better without sauce than otherwise, I make every attempt to go here as much as possible just for these delicious wings. DO NOT miss out on them. Also of note: the option of deviled eggs as a side was an unusual and pleasant surprise the first time I went here, although the sides altogether weren't anything special and are why I'll only give this place four stars. Definitely go into the great vintage store next door afterwards to walk off your meal.

I love coming to Ozona Pig! No matter how busy it is, or how long it takes... it is always worth it. great BBQ served with a dry rub so you can pick your poison from one of the 3 sauces made in house. the best place I've found in the Tampa Bay Area, and the price is great! Staff was attentive, and the setting is a family friendly, warm, and homey feel. They even let my dog join us for dinner without a fuss which is a huge plus ! I am full, and most importantly my boyfriend gives it 2 thumbs up!

Went there for dinner, great's welcome from everybody food was outstanding, service was poor waitress forgot to bring my daughters meal when she brought the rest of our meal by the time that we were all done she ended up still forgetting to bring my daughters meal by the time we were done with ours. Will eat again but hope for better service.

This place has some rootin' tootin' real deal BBQ. Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork Nachos - All Legit ... & we got a to-go order. We will definitely be back to dine in soon for a lot more of that Sweet & Sassy Sauce. Delish!

  • Anita C.

Very disappointing, don't bother, don't waste your money, they say they have Great hamburgers, the patty is pre formed, frozen, not very good, we also order the brisket, nothing to write home about. and the place is freezing cold !!!! we will never go back. not crazy about the BBQ sauce either

I won't eat barbq anywhere other than Ozona Pig! Their homemade sauces are amazing. They have the best pulled pork nachos (half and fill size). Their homemade French fries are delicious as is the pulled pork and potato salad. The breakfast is yummy too!

I won a gift certificate and t-shirt to the Ozona Pig and Boy and i glad i did. I would have never heard or had been to this place. By far my favorite place for Beef. The pulled pork nachos are to die for and love that you get a deviled egg with my dinner.

I'm not one to write reviews normally. I am, however, someone who reads them to decide where to go and what to get. This was so amazing that I had to create an account on yelp just so I could write a review. While all the food is good, if you want something great get the pulled pork cocktail that comes in the mason jar. Dump it on a plate and mix it up. It is so good that I have eaten it at least once a day for 5 days straight. Even without mixing the beans and slaw with it the pulled pork is incredible. The sweet barbecue sauce is the best for that meat.

    (5)
  • Lane R.

I was hoping for better, the BBQ wasn't the best, the sauces weren't the best and service was meh at best. The husband and I decided it was not a place we would likely return because nothing really stood out about our meal.

This restaurant holds a special place in my heart as it was one my dad really enjoyed. I love their pulled pork, it is soooo good. The servings are generous and the staff is very friendly. It is a very casual atmosphere, with indoor seating and a few tables outside. It's a great place to enjoy a great dinner and a cold beer.

The ribs bump this BBQ joint up from four stars to five. The food is excellent, as is the whole atmosphere. The owners are down-to-earth folks who will make sure you'll have a great experience.

Very real southern BBQ. The owner's go to church with my fiancee's step mother and and they are truly wonderful people. We went her for a charity event. They had little booths set up, live music, a ton on bikers, and a packed restaurant, inside and out. We had a couple of beer and then stuffed ourselves with piggy-licious ribs! OH WOW! I was still full when I woke up in the morning! They have 4 different choices of BBQ sauce. Original, sweet, spicy, and all 3 mixed together. I went with all 3 mixed together. SPECTACULAR!!! The sauced up ribs were so good that I lost all control of my body as a devoured them! In my Dionysian state of piggy-liciousness I dropped the half eaten rib in my lap, right onto my nice dress pants. Normally I would be upset over something like this, but not today, I did not even care, the ribs were that good!!!! They also make excellent pulled pork. We had some of that delivered by the owners earlier in the week (we were all spending time with my fiancee's step mom and mourning the passing of my fiancee's father). We had it for dinner and again the next day for lunch. They brought sauces over and beans and slaw. I am usually not a big fan if slaw, but I really really like the slaw here!!! If you want some delicious ribs or pulled pork that kicks like authentic southern BBQ and you are in the Clearwater/Palm Harbor area, this is a place you must check out. You will not be disappointed!

This place is really very good and we will make this our BBQ spot!! The drinks were great.. The baked beans were amazing.. The pulled pork and fresh cut French fries were great as well!! Fast service! Overall... On point!!!

BEST BBQ IN TOWN!!! I eat there once a month and the food is the same quality every time. When family is in town everyone always wants to meet at the PIG. Great family restaurant!! Thanks Ozona Pig!!

  • Megan G.

I have been a loyal customer at Ozona Pig for years. I absolutely love their food, and they have great original barbecue sauce. The price is also pretty reasonable. I love to get the pulled pork sandwich, and order a side of coleslaw to put on top. It is rather delicious. Although it is sometimes busy, but it is always worth the wait for such great food. The staff is also very friendly.

THE FREAKING BEST BARBECUE IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA!!! Hope you read that clearly. This is the best hands down. My wife and I as well as several family members tried this place and holy smokes I was impressed. Wife and I shared the boss hog plate and all I can say is wow! We got pulled pork, pulled brisket, ribs, half chicken, baked beans, fries, and deviled eggs. Every part of that meal was fantastic. Even the sweet tea. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for barbecue there's no place like Ozona Pig!

Last Sunday, while out and about with the husband, we were looking for a BBQ joint to eat at. Sadly, when we stumbled in on the Pig, they had already closed, by the scent of the air alone, we vowed to come back. Today was our lucky day! Since we both had today off, the husbeast and I made our way back to picturesque Ozona and knocked on the door of this rustic eatery. There were a couple of noisy gents at the bar, and a few other diners at tables, so we sat ourselves in a booth and were promptly served by a friendly waitress. Since we'd never been there before, we took a few minutes to place our order, but what we were presented with was MOUNDS of food. We both ordered the BBQ plate, I chose the pulled pork (of course) and he got the brisket. Normally these are served with beans and slaw, but they let you sub out for most of their sides, He chose fries and I chose potato salad. When they were delivered to the table, each was garnished with a deviled egg (YUM!) and a trio of heated sauces. The pork was so tender and the beef was yummy, and while I like the vinegar based sauces, the husbeast wasn't so fond of them, he found them too runny to be of much good. What he DID like was the shaker of rub that was on the table - he liked it so much he asked if we could buy some. (We did). We ate our fill, my husband is a member of the clean plate club, but I'm afraid I am not, there will be some shame on my face for that, but while the food was delicious, I really did want to save some room for the Homemade banana pudding - or Southern creme bruele as the menu put it. I'm glad I did, that stuff was fan-freaking-tastic. We will be back, the service alone was amazing. The locals at the bar, well they were "colorful" and made a few.. mm off color jokes that everyone could hear, but I really can't hold that against the establishment.

First time visiting and the food was great the service was also outstanding. We had the hog boss which is all 4 of their meats in one plate. It's enough to feed a family of 3-4.

Amazing food, family hospitality, one of my local favorites when I used to live in the area.

Ate at this restraunt on a recommendation from my brother in-law who lives in Palm Harbor. I had the pulled pork and wings. Pulled pork was excellent and the wings were the best I've ever had! The wait staff was very courteous. Can't wait to go back!

  • Brett N.

Why 2 stars? Because this wasn't my favorite BBQ. --- --- --- As I say every time, I hate giving poor reviews. Unfortunately, this was some of my least favorite BBQ that I've sampled in the Bay Area. Bad reviews suck, but this pulled pork does not deserve high praise, sadly. Hopefully another trip will change my perception, but I'm at least 45 minutes away and won't likely return soon.

  • John S.

First visit today. Everything we ordered was excellent. The pulled pork was moist and smoky. Done perfectly. We had a couple of ribs on the side and they were the best ribs that I have had in Florida. By far. The mac and cheese side was creamy and cheesy. Potato rolls are the bread. Didn't get to try them but the wings looked great. Next visit. Busy at lunch but outside seating available.

We used Ozona Pig to cater a rehearsal dinner at rental house in Palm Harbor. The service was amazing. The owner, Bobbie, personally delivered and set up the food. The value was the best in the area based on our research. We ordered food for 40 guests, and it ended up feeding almost 60 people (thank goodness for the generous portions). Bobbie was friendly and easy to do business with, and all of the guests loved the food. We had pulled pork, bbq chicken, beans, cole slaw and the orange street salad. Needless to say, there were not any leftovers. The guests especially raved about the homemade salad dressings, and the bbq sauce was perfect to satisfy the range of palates in attendance. We hope this review inspires you to consider using Ozona Pig for your next catering need.

Average BBQ eatery off the beaten path in an old, but not near the water, Florida setting. Atmosphere 75 Its a BBQ joint Service 75. Not good. Not bad. Food 75 Pulled brisket and pork were tasty Value 75 The price is right for the quality Surprise... bring your own BBQ sauce. Their "stick" is a triad of vinegar based BBQ sauces that just do not have any body. Good enough reason to go on to the next BBQ place.

  • Kai N.

Really like the pulled pork and ribs. One time I went the brisket was dry, but just the one time. Nice atmosphere, family friendly, there's even a play corner for kids. All of the waitstaff I've dealt with there have been pleasant and enjoy talking about BBQ, a topic I find engrossing and mildly arousing. We have to go at least once a month. The only thing that irks me about this place is that its closed on Sundays. Which is disappointing because it is a scientific fact that BBQ tastes better when eaten on a Sunday. And don't tell me they're closed because of church, if god didn't want us eating out on Sunday why did he invent brunch?

  • James M.

Went to the Ozona Pig for the first time last saturday. I had the half rib /half chicken plate, the ribs where excellent and the chicken very good. Great service. The only thing that would have made it even better, would be a piece of corn bread.

Good ribeye. Okay pulled pork. Pricey and busy. Nice that you can bring your dog and eat outside though.

    (3)
  • Teresa H.

I love really good BBQ and this place definitely has that. Their sauces are all vinegar based so they are thin. If you like a thick sweet sauce you will probably be disappointed. The meat is really flavorful so I only use a little sauce. It would be nice to have an sauce with a little more body for sandwiches. On our last visit I opted for a burger, it was really good but the service was very slow. We also had their BBQ nachos, they normally use a nacho cheese sauce we asked to substitute shredded cheese (just our preference) huge portion and generous toppings. The only negative I have was the service. it took forever to get our food. Another party was seated after we were, they ordered, ate and left before our food came! They had a different server so not sure what happened. Love the atmosphere and the fact that it is locally owned.

  • Fefe M.

I went there yesterday for lunch and had the pulled pork sandwich which came with fries and a pickle. I was amazing! There were 3 barbecue sauces to choose from on the table and i liked the sweet sauce the best! I will be going back soon for sure!!! My finance had the brisket sandwich, he liked it but said the pork was better!

    (5)
  • C L.

Have had both lunch and dinner here. Really like the pulled pork sandwich, it's very, very good! BBQ sauces are provided on the table. I've ordered this sandwich the last two times I've been here. Also had a tamale appetizer and wished they had used cheddar cheese, maybe, instead of what appeared to be bright yellow cheese whiz. It was still very tasty, however, and I'll probably order it again in the future. Have had the St. Louis ribs and they were delicious. Good service and fair prices. Really, everything I've tried here has been good; I don't think you can go wrong at "the Pig".

    (4)
  • Paul E.

Holy crap this place is good!! The sauces are thin and delicious, meat perfectly moist, the coconut pie - while not as good as my grandma's - was really tasty!! Skip the tamale I'd say... american style chili that covered any chance to taste the tamale. Still getting 5 stars from me though. :-). We'll be back!

  • Beth S.

I've only eaten here once and it was for breakfast but it was stellar. The food was so good I'm tempted to drive back to Ozona just to eat breakfast there again. (I don't live anywhere near Ozona!) The grilled muffin was heaven. They take one of their homemade muffins, slice it in half, warm it up on the griddle, and then drizzle it with a vanilla glaze. Totally worth the trip. Great, friendly service, and a cute outdoor patio.

You're not going to be blown away by an unusual menu, incredible ambiance or a breathtaking setting but chances are pretty good you, your family and friends will leave well satisfied. In addition to a friendly staff (led by very pleasant owners who know when to let you enjoy your meal) food quality is consistent and tasty. We'll continue to visit the restaurant whenever we're in town because of the combination of nice people, good food and a location that is pleasant and a bit off the beaten track. See you there.

  • Tammie E.

Maybe I've just grown tired of barbecue but I find the Ozona Pig over smokes every single thing that I have. Their menu is very limited and I always have a hard time finding something that I want to eat when I get there. My husband really likes it, he enjoys the smoky taste and enjoys the sauces. But I find it tiresome and not quite appetizing anymore. I think they really need to add more non-BBQ options and more tasty sides. Not to mention that every time we go, the place is so tight, it's hard to move around.

    (3)
  • Lee M.

the ribs are fantastic! some of the very best around this part of the world! Same for the fries! Awesome tamales and the Cowboy Burger is killer... The local feel and ambiance is a real pleasure - definitely not a chain like you see all over Florida.

Great hole in the wall BBQ.. Service is great food always great and the Georgia Brunswick Stew is awesome and you can go wrong with their homemade Banana Pudding!!!

We are never disappointed with Ozona Pig. We like to get the slab of ribs for two and finish off with a home made banana pudding. We are so thankful we found out about Ozona Pig!

  • Sarah D.

I could write a review of Ozona Pig, but I'll just quote my 16 year old, carnivore daughter: "This is So. Freakin. Good. If I was into Yelp, I'd Yelp this. Why have we never been here before??" If it was up to her, she'd give it 5 stars but I'm only giving it 4 because I wasn't quite as enthused as her, my beer was watery, and as she put it "This place looks like it would have skeevy bathrooms." Whatever that means.

  • Danielle S.

Awesome BBQ. This local hangout is unpretentious in it's atmosphere. The food is genuine. The service can be hit and miss But never enough to keep me away.

  • Kristen T.

This is one of those places that I almost did not review because I wanted to keep it my secret...I like how its a chill, local spot thats really never too busy! BUT the food is SO GOOD I had to share! You always get LOTS of it for cheap. Order the Pulled-Pork Nachos (as an app) and the BBQ Dinner Plate (with more pulled pork!). You'll have dinner for tomorrow too!

  • Love T.

We were across the street at Molly Goodheads when we were lured in by the scent of BBQ. Where do I start? The owners were so sweet and friendly, and they keep jars of jelly beans on the bar counter for the customers, and most importantly, their BBQ was delicious. The sliders, pork and brisket, are super tender and come with three different sauces if you can't make up your mind, all of which are awesome. The coleslaw, which I don't even normally eat, is great. Love this place. Will return when back in FL!

    (5)
  • Greg L.

Outstanding pulled pork sandwich....limited seating and parking.....a hidden gem!

    (5)
  • Christopher S.

The bar inside is fine to get wasted at and listen to the local talent release their energy outside on the makeshift bandstand. I really wanted to love this place. The beer was cold, but the BBQ marginal. Taste the meat with nothing on it, and suck the juices out of it. You will find very little to it. The resident "hot" BBQ sauce was nonexistent. I think I used almost a third of the bottle just trying to get a kick. I've been tasting BBQ for decades now and this pig needs some help. Go down Alt 19 into Dunedin and hit Eli's! You'll find the gold there!

  • B B.

Great place if you are solely looking for a place to "golf cart" to. Aside from that, it is dirty and gross. Disgusting bathrooms. They never clean the place. We come here occasionally just when we don't know where else to take our golf cart. Our last experience here was probably the last. Crappy food -- it was cold. Never offered to even warm it up for us. People give this place WAY more credit than it deserves. Yup, it's the Ozona "Pig' alright. They live like pigs...

    (2)
  • Ron S.

A must-eat when in the area for me The pulled pork sandwich is one of the best I've had, and compares with any of the greats, though you can't be scared of a little pork fat. Also a killer burger, with a great smoky crust The home-made BBQ sauces are worth a try as well, I like all of them, along with some hot sauce

    (4)
  • Heather H.

Another "regular" stop when we are in Tampa/Palm Harbor. We love the "bbq cocktail" and this last time tried the tamales and really liked them too. A fun & casual place with pretty decent bbq! Not open on Sundays and no liquor.

  • Lisa K.

Quaint old house across from Molly Goodheads. Reasonable prices, pretty good barbecue. The pulled pork is very tender and moist, sweet baked beans, and they even have hot tamales on the menu. Homemade french fries. Lunch on Saturday wasn't crowded. They don't take reservations.
